June 16 , 2008: Sometimes you just can't believe your eyes. This week is one of those times.
On Wednesday night, June 18th, step outside at sunset and look around. You'll see a giant form rising in the east. At first glance it looks like the full Moon. It has craters and seas and the face of a man, but this "moon" is strangely inflated. It's huge!
You've just experienced the Moon Illusion.

There's no better time to see it. The full Moon of June 18th is a "solstice moon", coming only two days before the beginning of northern summer. This is significant because the sun and full Moon are like kids on a see-saw; when one is high, the other is low. This week's high solstice sun gives us a low, horizon-hugging Moon and a strong Moon Illusion.
Sky watchers have known for thousands of years that low-hanging moons look unnaturally big. At first, astronomers thought the atmosphere must be magnifying the Moon near the horizon, but cameras showed that is not the case. Moons on film are the same size regardless of elevation: example. Apparently, only human beings see giant moons.
My gosh........I was tagged weeks ago and haven't been able to find the time to do it. Here goes.
Each player starts with eight random facts/habits or embarrassing things about themselves. People who are tagged need to write their own blog about their eight things and post these rules. At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names. Don't forget to leave them a comment telling them they're tagged, and to read your blog."
1)I have too many dogs for my house/yard. I have 3 big dogs over 100 hundred pounds each and one that is about 45. It gets a little crowded sometimes, but lots of love to go around. We are one big pack, lol.
2)I wish that I had more kids. (More than likely explains #1)
3) I like red wine, probably a little too much.
4) I love to read the tarot and do past life regressions and would love to be able to make a living doing that.
5) My brother (adopted) is in jail.
6) I wish I had more siblings that just my adopted brother.
7) I have freckles
8) Halloween/Samhain is my favorite holiday. I'm having a party this year and you are all invited!
Salutations and Brightest Blessings!
How are you? I've been "tied up" lol, with my kids. Samantha moved back in for a few months and completely took over the new computer. It was worth it to get some peace, lol. The medication for her Bi polar and anxiety disorder has not been effective for some time, and now she has a new psychiatrist who is starting her in a group activities program, she is looking forward to it.
I've had a huge relief with my fathers health, he had secondary prostate cancer and now his results came back as 0.000, yipee!
Thank the God's and Goddesses!!!
We have settled into Winter down under, lots of pruning to do yet, lol. There is water in the Bird Sanctuary again and the birds have come back, I am delighted, it is one of my favourite places to be. It's only a short walk from my home, but I take my portable sunroom, my car lol, and just take some time out for myself.
Sorry I am late in replying to your message,
I intend being here more regularly now that I have a computer again, lol.
I hope that you and your family are all well and happy,
Love, light and laughter,
Marie xoxoxo
